At Mercury, we take immense pride in celebrating the accomplishments of our Pro Team members, who continuously elevate the sport of bass fishing. On September 26, two of our extraordinary pros, Mark Zona and Skeet Reese, were officially inducted into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted the sport on a national level, and both Zona and Reese truly embody this spirit.

Mark Zona: A Passion for Fishing and Innovation

Mark Zona, also known as “Z,” has had an unwavering passion for fishing since childhood. At just 9 years old, he won his first bass fishing tournament and knew immediately that fishing would become his lifelong career. Over the years, Zona has achieved remarkable success in various roles, from selling pontoons early in his career to being crowned the 2003 FLW Everstart Northern Division Angler of the Year. Known for his larger-than-life personality, Zona has made a name for himself both on and off the water.

Zona’s influence extends into the realm of outdoor television, where his engaging presence has resonated with fishing enthusiasts worldwide. His TV career includes producing and hosting numerous popular shows like Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show, BassCenter, The Greatest Angler Debate, Kings of Bass, and Zona Live, among others. Notably, he joins longtime colleague Tommy Sanders in the Hall of Fame, solidifying his legacy as one of the sport’s most influential figures.

“Fishing is more than a sport or a career, it is a lifelong passion,” said Zona. His innovative spirit and commitment to the sport have inspired countless anglers and fans alike.

Skeet Reese: A Tournament Fishing Legend

Skeet Reese is regarded as one of the greatest tournament anglers in bass fishing history. Since turning pro in 1997, Reese has accumulated an impressive array of achievements. In 2007, he won the Bassmaster Elite Series Angler of the Year title, and just two years later, he captured the coveted Bassmaster Classic trophy on the Red River in Louisiana, becoming the only Western-based angler to achieve this feat. Reese’s success places him in an elite group of anglers who have won both the Classic and AOY at the highest levels of competition.

At 55, Reese continues to excel, winning the 2024 Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour Stage Six event on the James River earlier this year. Known for his iconic yellow attire, Reese is not only a top competitor but also a successful businessman, driving product development for his signature fishing gear and tackle.

“From all of us here at Mercury, Mark and Skeet, our hats come off for you, and we celebrate all that you have done for pro fishing, your fans, and Mercury Marine. Congratulations on your incredible achievements.”

With both Mark Zona and Skeet Reese officially inducted into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, their remarkable contributions and legacies will inspire future generations of anglers for years to come.
