Photo Gallery: Miami Boat Show Poker Run From Water Level

The 29th annual Florida Powerboat Club Miami Boat Show Poker Run is officially in the books. The docks at Hawk Cay Resort on Duck Key—the host venue for the event—are coming to life with poker run fans heading home. Most look a little sad and a lot look a little tired.

In a day or so, the Florida Powerboat Club will deliver aerial images of the boats in action this weekend to speedonthewater.com for a feature story early next week. Later, they’ll use them in their next issue of Powerboating In Paradise magazine. And even later, they’ll likely appear in the 2024 version of Year In Review magazine. But, in the meantime, we have a gallery of images from contributing photographer Jeff Helmkamp for you to enjoy.

Unlike speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden, who uses the Card Sound Bridge as an elevated perch—check out Friday’s story—to capture this event, Helmkamp leans toward shooting from water-level from a boat or the shore. It’s a different vantage point that offers another perspective.

Frankly, we’re thrilled to be able to publish the images. Helmkamp and Boden have provided us an embarrassment of riches, so to speak, as usual ahead of the aerial photos coming from the Florida Powerboat Club.
