Mercury Marine Opens New Distribution Center in Indiana
A new 512,000 square foot facility outside Indianapolis, Indiana, will be home to Mercury Marine’s new parts and accessories distribution center, helping to better connect Mercury’s global customers and improve delivery and service as well as add capacity for scale, stability and reduced logistics cost.
“We are excited to officially open our new centralized distribution center which will have an immediate and positive impact to our global channel partners,” says Chris Drees, Mercury Marine president. “We leveraged the most advanced distribution technologies in conveyance, scanning, and packaging to move products through the warehouse efficiently and accurately to better serve our global customers.”
At three and a half times bigger than the current distribution facility in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the new facility will create nearly 350 new jobs in its first year, and is LEED certified, furthering Mercury’s commitment to sustainability. The former distribution facility will be repurposed to support propulsion systems, allowing the company to increase capacity and production.
“When companies like Mercury Marine decide to call Brownsburg home, they enrich our community and the lives of Hoosiers across the state,” said U.S. Rep. Jim Baird, who attended the grand opening event. “This company’s investment in our community will create hundreds of jobs for Hoosiers, and I look forward to seeing its positive impact on the great state of Indiana.”
