Garmin Presents New GC 245 and GC 255 Marine Cameras for Enhanced Docking Visibility | Bass Angler Magazine

Garmin GC245 Marine Camera

OLATHE, Kan./Sept. 10, 2024 – Garmin (NYSE: GRMN), a global leader in marine electronics, has introduced the GC™ 245 and GC 255 marine cameras, designed to provide increased visibility and proximity awareness during docking and other low-speed maneuvers. Equipped with on-screen distance markers and guidance lines, these cameras offer full HD 1080p video feeds and multiple viewing angles to improve the safety and confidence of boaters.

Increased Confidence and Awareness

The GC 245 and GC 255 cameras bring many advanced features from Garmin’s Surround View Camera System to smaller vessels, making docking and navigating through narrow spaces more manageable. According to Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales, “Much like a backup camera in your car, on-screen prompts can give you confidence while docking or navigating your boat through narrow marina waterways, helping to protect passengers and property.”

Key Features of the GC 245 and GC 255 Cameras:

Multiple Viewing Modes: Boaters can select between Standard View, wide-angle FishEye View, and Bird’s Eye View to see the boat from various perspectives. All modes are effective in both normal and low-light conditions.
On-Screen Guidance: Visual aids like distance markers and guidance lines provide useful references for understanding the proximity of objects around the boat.
Multi-Camera Streaming: Up to four camera feeds can be streamed simultaneously to a compatible Garmin chartplotter or shared across multiple displays for enhanced viewing throughout the vessel.
Digital Zoom and Pan: Users can zoom in on areas of interest or pan around the view to focus on particular objects or regions.

Mounting and Design Options

The GC 245 can be installed without cutting into the hull, offering a simple installation process. Both cameras are designed to withstand marine environments, with IPX7 weatherproof ratings for water and dust resistance.

Compatibility and Pricing

The GC 245 and GC 255 cameras are compatible with various Garmin chartplotters and multifunction displays, including the GPSMAP® x2, GPSMAP x3, GPSMAP 8400/8600, GPSMAP 9000 series, and the newly launched GPSMAP 9500 Black Box.
