Walstrom Marine Summer Kickoff Party to Benefit Great Lakes Boat Building School

Walstrom Marine invites the community to come celebrate the kickoff of summer in a festive Summer Kickoff Party June 29 that will not only offer a festive event for attendees, but will also benefit students of the Great Lakes Boat Building School.

The Summer Kickoff Party will take place at 6pm, June 29, 2023 in Walstrom’s showroom in downtown Harbor Springs, Michigan, directly following the Blessing of the Fleet. Attendees can enjoy live music from the Broom Closet Boys, hor d’oeuvres by The Crow’s Nest and a silent auction, with all proceeds going to benefit the Great Lakes Boat Building School’s Student Enrichment Fund. 

Along with a rich history in Harbor Springs dating back to 1947, Walstrom Marine is also a supporter of GLBBS, the only accredited boat building school in the state of Michigan that offers two 12-month certification courses in Comprehensive Career Boat Building and Marine Service Technology, and is beginning construction on a new addition to their campus that will house a third certification course in Marine Electronics.

The school has worked to expand its offerings and create partnerships with marine businesses to help fill the shortage of skilled workers in the marine industry. Walstrom currently employs four GLBBS graduates, and hopes to add to that number in future.
