Statement 396 Catamaran No. 1 Set For Dial-In Next Week
With the first 44 GTrs center console and 396 catamaran coming his way, it’s safe to say that Marylander Eric Lonabough is committed to the latest offerings from Statement Marine. As previously reported, Shaun Torrente and Statement dealer Randy Sweers spent time dialing in the 44-footer last Friday near Shaun Torrente Racing headquarters in Southwest Florida. They plan to begin testing and dialing in the 39-foot catamaran next week.
As it happens, the first Statement 396 catamaran is color-matched to the first Statement 44 GTrs center console.
“Eric loves his new 44-foot Statement center console, but when he saw the 396 Statement cat he had to have one,” Sweers said, then chuckled. “And it just so happens that this one matches the paint and interior of his 44.
“He wanted to have something smaller and faster to enjoy,” he added. “Eric boats in Maryland in the summer and South Florida in the winter, so having the 396 cat and the 44GTrs will give him the best of both worlds.”

Though Sweers, who owns The Marine Group in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., set up manufacturing for both models in Brazil, he emphasized all Statement dealers can order the boats, just as they can with any model offered by the Clearwater, Fla., high-performance center console and catamaran builder.
“I think both will be strong sellers for Statement and its entire dealer network,” he said.
The first 39-footer has a custom interior.
Sweers plans to keep Torrente, who recently returned to international tunnel-boat racing, busy with dial-in and set-up work.
“Shaun will also be receiving a full-carbon-layup 396 Statement cat Monday afternoon,” he said. “And he’ll be putting his touches on that boat as well.”
Testing on the first Statement 396 catamaran is set to begin soon.
