New Video! The Bold New Era Of DCB Performance Marine
A year ago in June, DCB Performance Marine left its 34-year home-state of California and began the next era of its evolution in Arizona thanks to managing partners/investors Craig and Kim Hargreaves. Given the unmatched quality and unflinching attention to detail of DCB catamarans, there didn’t seem to be much—if any—room for improvement.
With its new facility in Phoenix, DCB Performance Marine is blasting into the future. Watch the video to see why. Photo of Kris and Shelby Hansen’s M37R Widebody from the Desert Storm Poker Run on Lake Havasu by Jeff Helmkamp copyright Helmkamp Photos.
But as you’ll learn from a new Speed On The Water/Scrapyard Media video chronicling the move and so much more, that’s not how the DCB people think. For them, there is no such thing as “good enough.” They chase perfection and, to quote a team member, believe they will get closer to it in their new 27,000-square-foot facility.
From the moment DCB moved to Phoenix, speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson and I knew we wanted to tell this story via video, and in working for three years now with Scrapyard Media we knew we had the perfect team in place for the job. DCB Performance Marine is particularly near and dear to our hearts as we worked alongside company president Jeff Johnston decades ago at Powerboat magazine.
Johnston and DCB Performance Marine’s Tony Chiaramonte, Paul Miller, Deron Rettke, Johnny Bauer and John Teague are more than just friends to us. They are family, which made telling this story an honor.

A little more than two weeks before we headed to Arizona to capture footage during the company’s Grand Opening event, former owner Rob Blair died in a helicopter accident and the project took on new meaning. Blair, who sold his majority stake in the company to the Hargreaves family, was a key figure in DCB history and his death devastated members of his extended DCB family of employees and customers.
So we dedicate this video to the memory of Rob Blair.
But we also dedicate it to the remarkable team leading DCB Performance Marine into the future, not to mention an incredibly tight group of customers, such as Randy and Laura Hallman, Kris and Shelby Hansen, Greg Harris and Yvonne Aleman, Dave and Sheri Hoekstra, Brad and Cindy Macaulay, Bryce and Ashley Menzies, and Mike and Matt Stevenson.
