Among the photos that stood out from yesterday’s raceboat parade down Duval Street in Key West, Fla., the best one barely involved a boat. The image captured Brit Lilly and his wife, Amanda, riding the hitch between the Huski Chocolate team hauler its 47-foot catamaran.
But what it really captured was the Lilly’s pure joy to be in Key West this week, as Brit will drive the Huski Chocolate Class 1 raceboat. Travis Pastrana, the team’s regular driver—and look for a beautiful, in-depth story on Pastrana tomorrow morning on speedonthewater.com—has a commitment elsewhere. So several weeks ago, Lilly got the nod to join throttleman Steve Curtis in the Huski cockpit for the American Power Boat Association/Union Internationale Motonautique World Championships produced by Race World Offshore.

“I want this championship so badly, you have no idea,” he said. “I know that Steve and I can make it happen.”
Making her second Key West appearance is the couple’s two-year-old daughter, Stella Rogue. Her grandfather, Art Lilly, a retired offshore racer of consequence, and grandmother, Renee, also are in town to watch their talented son perform.
“Stella Rogue is ready to conquer Key West,” said Brit. “She is loving it already.”
As is her proud father.
