Big Thunder Marine Collecting Christmas Gifts For Children In Need For Second Year
You don’t have to stray far from the shores of the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri for the neighborhood-scenery to abruptly change. In contrast to significant wealth that exists in the waterfront communities around the waterway, several surrounding counties such as Morgan and Hickory are among the poorest in the state. The money raised by the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout—to the tune of more than $700,000 this year—goes a long way, but it also has a long way to go.

That’s why the team at Big Thunder Marine, which has multiple locations at the lake, is working with the Kiwanis Club of the Ozark Coast on its “Christmas For Kids” program for the second year. The goal of the program, as the name implies, is to collect Christmas presents for children whose parents and caregivers lack the means to provide them.
The Big Thunder crew will be accepting gifts at the multi-brand dealership’s Speed and Luxury Showroom in Lake Ozark. Dubbed “Fill The Boats,” the Big Thunder collection-effort is open through December 7. The Speed and Luxury Showroom is one of several collection points for the Kiwanis Club-fueled initiative.
“This will be our second year campaigning to fill boats with toys,” explained Tyson Moran, Big Thunder Marine’s marketing manager. “Kiwanis Club of the Ozark Coast picks up the toys to redistribute through their Christmas for Kids program.
“However, if we were to ‘deliver’ we’d likely dress (Big Thunder Marine salesman) Ed Champion as Santa Claus and send him out on a red Fountain or maybe a red Donzi Classic,” he added, then chuckled. “He loves kids.”
