DCB In High Gear With M29R Delivery, M37R Builds, New 42-Footer And More

Between completing an M37R Widebody catamaran for second-time owners Yvonne Aleman and Greg Harris in time for the inaugural four-day Bago Big Bet event next month in Oshkosh, Wis., and awaiting delivery of another 37-footer—this one for professional off-road racer Bryce Menzies—from the famed Stephen Miles Design paint shop, the team at DCB Performance Marine is running flat-out. Most recently, the company finished an M29R cat powered by a Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engine going to a client in Canada.

Red-hot and ready to run, this single-engine 29-footer from DCB will soon be at home in Canada.

“We are as busy as we’ve ever been,” said Jeff Johnston, the president of the Phoenix-based company. “Although we are making internal steps to improve product output—without compromising quality, of course—we are still sitting at an 18- to 20-month delivery time.”

The 37-foot cat going to Aleman and Harris is in rigging. Menzies’ cat is slated to arrive from the Owensboro, Ky., paint shop in early June and also will immediately head to the rigging department. And another 37-footer is headed to post-lamination.

DCB’s rigging shop is among the custom catamaran builder’s busiest departments.

“That boat has a very cool, custom aftermarket dash being installed,” said Johnny Bauer, DCB’s vice president of manufacturing, who will be joining South Florida’s Aleman and Harris for the Wisconsin event next month. “And an M33R catamaran with a really cool open-bow also is heading for rigging.”

Harris and Aleman were among the first to people to register for the June 20-23 Wisconsin happening.

“Yvonne and I are thrilled that our new boat will make its debut in front of so many people on the home waters of Mercury and Mercury Racing,” Harris said. “I know they take as much pride in the power they build as DCB does in the boats it builds. Plus, it will be a great experience to run on a new waterway for us, and to have a tour guide like Johnny Bauer, who worked for Mercury Racing and Mercury Marine for many years, onboard all week.”

Aleman and Harris will debut their colorful new 37-footer on Lake Winnebago next month.

The finished hull mold for the new M42R catamaran is in transit from Marine Concepts in Sarasota, Fla., and should arrive late next week at DCB headquarters. The company moved to the Arizona facility from its longtime home in Southern California in June 2023.

“We are coming up on our one-year anniversary with Craig and Kim Hargreaves as DCB’s managing partners and our relocation to Phoenix on June 19,” Johnston said. “All of our employees, whether they relocated from California or are from this areas, have found a good rhythm here at our amazing new facility.

“So no complaints on this side,” he added. “We are just thankful and blessed to have such a strong following, strong orders and an incredible team here at DCB.”

Added Bauer with a chuckle. “Did I mention we have positions open for laminators, post-lamination team members, gelcoat technicians and qualified riggers?”

No matter how busy, the DCB team keeps its new digs tidy.
