New Statement Cat And Center Consoles Slated For Miami Boat Show Debut – Speed on the Water
From the performance-boat enthusiast perspective, the 2024 Miami International Boat Show set for February 14-18 probably seems a long way off. It’s only mid-October. The 2023 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show doesn’t open until next Wednesday and the 2023 Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run and Race World Offshore World Championships are still weeks away.
But talk to any boat-builder in the go-fast realm introducing a new model at the event next year and he or she will tell you that the push—and the pressure to deliver by the time doors open at the Miami Convention Center—is already on.
The first Statement 396 Cat will be an eight-seat open cockpit pleasure boat
Just ask marine industry veterans Randy Sweers and Nick Buis, who have been collaborating on a new Statement Marine catamaran they plan to unveil in Miami. Dubbed the 396 Statement Cat, the first outboard-engine-powered 39-footer currently is in lamination and will be complete in time for the annual South Beach event.
“It is going to be available in an eight-seat, open-cockpit pleasure version or a two- to five-seat canopied race/pleasure version,” said Sweers, who reportedly designed the cat with a team of naval engineers and architect using 3-D CAD technology. “The hull has a 72-inch-wide tunnel.”
Statement also will offer its new 39-foot cat in a canopied race/pleasure format.
The Statement 396 Cat is one of three new models the Tampa, Fla.-based builder will debut in Miami. The company also plans to showcase its new 44-foot GTrs V-bottom center console and 43-foot Center Console Catamaran. The 44-footer rides on a “state-of-the-art” five-step hull.
Both boats will be powered by quad 500-hp outboards from Mercury Racing. All of the new models, as well as those within the company’s existing product line, will be available through Statement’s dealer network. Current dealers include Legend Marine Group in Texas, Iguana Marine Group, which has four locations in the Midwest, and Arizona based Horizon Motorsports.
Buis and Sweers also are collaborating on another project to support the entire Statement line.
“In addition to all three Miami unveilings in February, Nick and I also are partnering on a new, 20,000-square-foot Statement Marine Group Warranty and Service Center,” said Sweers. “We plan on offering not just complete service but refitting and renovation, repowering and complete concierge services.”
Statement plans on unveiling V-hull (above) catamaran-hull-based center consoles next year in Miami.
