2024 Life Jacket Loaner program grant application opens | Boating Industry
The Sea Tow Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting boating safety, announced the opening of its Life Jacket Loaner Program Grant Application for the 2024 season.
Administered through the U.S. Coast Guard’s Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, this grant program enables the Sea Tow Foundation to collaborate with communities nationwide, extending the reach of the Life Jacket Loaner Program throughout the 2024 boating season. Applications will be accepted through February 1, 2024.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of the 2024 Life Jacket Loaner Program Grant Application,” said Gail R. Kulp, Executive Director of the Sea Tow Foundation. “We invite all members of the boating community, whether you’re a passionate boater or represent an organization, agency, or business, to apply and take part in this program. Let’s continue to champion safe and memorable experiences for all who enjoy time on the water.”
The Sea Tow Foundation’s Life Jacket Loaner Program is the world’s largest program of its kind, with more than 1,300 stands located across all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., American Samoa and the Virgin Islands. Established to prevent drowning, each of the loaner stations can be stocked with life jackets ranging in size from infant to adult extra-large that boaters can borrow and return free of charge.
Since the program’s inception in 2008, the Sea Tow Foundation has distributed over 100,000 life jackets to local businesses and organizations, helping keep families stay safe while enjoying water-based activities.
The Sea Tow Foundation noted that there is a limited quantity of life jackets to distribute this year, and advised applicants to be sure to answer all of the application questions completely with as much detail as possible. Application decisions will be made by April 2024.
