XINSURANCE/Good Boy Vodka Team Continues U.K. Roll
Though the results were provisional results and reportedly under protest following yesterday’s Lymington Challenge—round No. 3 of the United Kingdom Offshore Powerboat Racing Association 2023 Offshore World Championship Series—the XINSURANCE/Good Boy Vodka team of owner/throttleman Rob Lockyer and driver Scott Younger took the Class 1 checkered flag in the approximately 100-nautical-mile contest.

The open-water course takes competitors from Lymington Marina in Hampshire, England, along The Solent and around the Isle of Wight before returning to its starting point. If the current results hold, the victory will be the team’s second in as many races in their canopied 52-foot Outerlimits V-bottom powered by twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines.
In addition to the XINSURANCE/Good Boy Vodka, the Class 1 fleet included the Vintage Torque, Silverline and Pippa teams. The XINSURANCE/Good Boy Vodka team averaged 97.88 mph and completed the contest in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 53 seconds followed by Vintage Torque and Silverline.
Scott Younger and Rob Lockyear are on an endurance-racing roll.
In June, Lockyer and Younger ran to victory in the 50-mile Round the Island race, which circumnavigates the Isle of Wight
“We won by approximately two minutes,” said Lockyer, whose ultimate goals is to compete in the 211-mile Cowes-Torquay-Cowes endurance race August 26-27. “The boat officially weighed in at 6,800 kilograms and we averaged almost 100 miles an hour.
“Second race for the team, second win, second win,” he added.
