Toronto Grand Prix Canceled

Months of planning on both sides of the United States/Canada border evaporated today with Race World Offshore’s announcement that it is canceling its inaugural Toronto Grand Prix scheduled for July 11-13. Citing “uncertainties in today’s political climate, heightening tensions and straining cross-border logistics,” the Key West, Fla.-based race-producer announced the decision in a press release today.

“This was not a decision we made alone, and it weighs heavily on all of us,” said Larry Bleil, the president and founder of Race World Offshore, in the release. “The Toronto Grand Prix held tremendous promise and the realization of making the series truly international. However, the climate has recently changed and implied unpredictability of border crossings for our teams and their equipment.
“Together with our Canadian race partners we agreed it was best to act decisively now, sparing all of our RWO teams, supporters and participants from further uncertainty and investment,” Bleil added.
The owner of the Super Cat-class Graydel team Chris Grant was an instrumental member of the organizing group across the border.

“We are extremely disappointed that the Toronto Grand Prix had to be cancelled due to the uncertainty between our two countries,” Grant said in the release. “When we embarked on this incredible journey to host an international race in Toronto, there were no tensions between nations, and the city welcomed us with open arms, approving the event without hesitation.
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the City of Toronto and all its stakeholders for their unwavering support in helping launch this event,” he continued. “We look forward to rescheduling in July 2026.”
