Shelby Mattingly Joining The Speedonthewater.com Team
Among the most joyful, gracious and generous members of the high-performance powerboating community, Shelby Mattingly is joining speedonthewater.com as its new sales and marketing manager. The 31-year-old, passionate go-fast boating enthusiast officially starts February 1. She will handle advertising sales for all of the daily news site’s editorial products, from online display advertisements to print ads in the annual Speed On The Water Year In Review print magazine.

Mattingly and her husband, Chris, split their time between their main residence in Kentucky and their second home in Southwest Florida. The founder of the Boat Babe Official apparel line, Mattingly and her husband travel to performance-boating events around the country during the summer. Though they have owned several dedicated powerboats from Hustler Powerboats, MTI, Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats and Scarab, their current ride is a Midnight Express 43 Solstice center console, which they hauled to the Boyne Thunder Poker Run and ran with friends from Kentucky last summer.
An absolute charisma bomb, Mattingly has created an impressive lifestyle clothing brand, one currently being eyed for distribution by a major national marine industry player at multiple locations across the country. Though her advertising sales background is not extensive, her rapport with members of the go-fast boating community, as well as many industry members and experienced-gained powerboat knowledge, is exceptional. So, too, are her organizational skills.
The Mattinglys and their 43-foot center console were the subject of an article in the 2022 Speed On The Water digital magazine Interview Issue dubbed “Couples Therapy.”
“Boating is our life—this is what we do and we love it,” Shelby said in the story titled Perfect Match. “I grew up boating but stopped for a while. Then I met Christopher and we bought our first boat, a 33 Scarab.”
In short, Mattingly is an ideal fit for her new role with speedonthewater.com, which also will include helping develop marketing initiatives for new editorial products such as the Speed On The Water “In The Lead” video series—now in its third season—and an upcoming print program (think oversized, 100-plus-page magazine) for the 20th annual Boyne Thunder Poker Run in July.
Though they’ve owned several purpose-built go-fast boats, Shelby Mattingly and her husband, Chris, currently have a Midnight Express 43 Solstice center console they took delivery of in November 2021.
“I look forward to helping the Speed On The Water and Boat Babe Official brands grow and creating new relationships with people in the industry I’m not familiar with,” she said. “While there are a lot of people I am familiar with, I also look forward to growing business relationships with them.
“There are so many good people in the boating community,” she added. “I am excited to be part of a boating media brand that is so inclusive and diverse.”
