Registration Now Open For All Lake Of The Ozarks Shootout Events
It’s hard to believe that the 36th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri is less than six months way, but it is. And that’s if you’re counting the actual two days of top-speed competition hosted by Captain Ron’s in Sunrise Beach, Mo., on August 24 and 25. In reality, the first event for the incredible fundraiser, which donated $675,000 to close to 40 local charities and organizations in 2023, kicks off this weekend with the new Dam Putt-Putt Tournament on Saturday, March 2 at the Bagnell Dam Strip, and continues throughout the summer with a golf tournament, a treasure hunt, an RC boat shootout, a trapshooting tournament and, of course, the addition of Shootout Offshore, which was announced in December.

But let’s get down to business—the reason for firing this six-month warning shot is to call attention to the fact that registration opened today for all of the events on the schedule (click on any event on this page for registration information) for the 36th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout presented by Performance Boat Center.
According to Leah Martin, who is entering her third year as executive director of the vastly important community-wide event, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout committee is expecting the 2024 event to reach new levels.
“We’re excited to get another year of the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout started—we have even more in store for 2024,” said Martin, who also is executive director of the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers Association and was helping set up for this week’s St. Charles Boat Show when speedonthewater.com caught up with her last night. “Obviously sponsorship is an important part of our event fundraising process, but registration for all of the events, from the Shootout and the poker run to the street party and the golf tournament, is just as important.
“To be honest, the registration fees are what help us cover a lot of our upfront costs, such as event insurance,” she continued. “Because we give our money out to the organizations, we start over budget wise and event registration helps cover the early onset of deposits and bills for the event.”

So whether you’re planning to test your top speed on the three-quarter-mile course or want to get in on the poker run fun, now’s the time to sign up so you don’t miss out. Plus you can start counting down the days until the lake’s best event of the year is here.
“We’re hopeful that all of our events—from the Run What You Brung Poker Run, the Great Shootout Treasure Hunt and the trapshooting tournament to the Hall of Fame induction dinner, the annual golf tournament and the Shootout on the Strip street party—continue to grow and have a good turnout this year,” Martin said. “We’re expecting another great weekend of top-speed competition with plenty of past participants joining first-time racers on our three-quarter-mile course. We have a few more events in the works between the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and the Shootout Offshore races (May 29-June 1) that we will be adding to the website soon.
Martin added that bringing the former Lake Race competition under the Shootout’s wing has opened up more crossover opportunities and expanded sponsorship possibilities. Anyone interested in sponsorship can reach out to her with questions.
