Product Spotlight: MDC Bravo Drive Replacement Couplers A Hot Commodity At CP Performance
Manufactured by Marine Design Corporation, the H/P Coupler replacement for the original couplers for Bravo drives has been the hottest new production addition of late for Santa Rosa, Calif.-based CP Performance, the exclusive distributor for the product. That is the word from the company’s Rick Bourns.
Suitable for applications of more than 1,000 hp, the H/P Coupler from MDC is a beefier aftermarket replacement for the coupler that comes standard with Bravo drives.
“The conventional rubber original equipment Bravo drive-engine coupler has been a ‘pain point’ for our customers for many years,” he explained. “The OEM units are prone to premature failure and limited lifespan in high-horsepower and competition applications. The nature of the OEM units heavy production steel and rubber design make it unserviceable thus a costly throwaway.
“The new H/P Coupler by MDC is yet another very well thought out ingenious product,” he continued. “Having produced the most desirable custom drive coupler products for years for use in the highest of performance applications and racing, MDC recognized there was a need for a more affordable reliable sportsman powerboater application to fit a wider share of the powerboating market.”

Manufactured in the United States, the aftermarket MDC unit boasts an anodized billet aluminum housing, replaceable chromoly splines and—also replaceable— polyurethane dampeners with external wear indicators. The patent-pending product carries a two-year warranty is rated for applications up to 1,000-plus horsepower.
