Powerboat P1 Inks MAV TV For Live Class 1 Coverage

Thanks to a new two-year deal between Powerboat P1 and MAVTV, there are two ways fans can enjoy live Class 1 World Championships Series—starting with this Sunday with the series season-opener in Cocoa Beach. Fla. Fans of Union Internationale Motonautique-sanctioned Class 1 action will be able to catch on the MAVTV television channel, as well as Powerboat P1’s own livestream coverage on its various Facebook portals.

Each live one-hour Class 1 MAV TV show will be broadcast nationally.

Well-known in motorsports broadcasting circles, Ken Stout will be the MAV TV Class 1 show’s principal host. Stout will alongside former Miss GEICO driver Marc Granet, a multi-time world champion. Granet worked with the Powerboat P1 livestream broadcast of former offshore racer Mike Yowaiski and speedonthewater.com co-publisher Matt Trulio, who are returning to the P1 broadcast team.

Granet is looking forward to working in the booth this weekend in Cocoa Beach.

“Offshore racing deserves its place on the live national television,” Granet. “All the classes deserve it, but Class 1 is the pinnacle to showcase the incredible performance and awesome racing that we have.  I’m going to try and bring my knowledge of what’s happening inside the cockpit on the course to the show.”

As it has in previous season, livestream Powerboat P1 coverage will still include Class 1, Super Cat, Super Stock, 450R Factory Stock and Mod V Classes, as well as some of the Bracket-class action in the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series. Powerboat P1 Azam Rangoonwala said he sees the two-year deal with MAV TV as year another means to bring fans closer to the sport.

“It’s clear that millions of fans around the world are loving the dramatic, exhilarating action and diverse marine motorsport offering and our new agreement with MAVTV incorporating live coverage will significantly enhance our broadcast package,” he explained in a press release issued by Powerboat P1 this morning. “By growing the US and international television audiences and attracting new teams and fans to the sport, P1 is delivering considerable value to host venues, race teams, sponsors and partners.”
