Outerlimits Completes Crypto II V-Bottom
An open-cockpit SL 50 V-bottom from Outerlimits Offshore Powerboatsm Crypto II is ready for action this summer. The new 50-footer was built for Ohio’s Mark Rudolph, who once owned the original canopied Outerlimits SV 43 dubbed Crypto and now the property of South Carolina performance-boat enthusiast Chuck Stark of South Carolina.

As are all V-bottoms and catamarans from in Bristol, R.I., custom V-bottom and catamaran company, the 50-footer is a post-cured carbon-fiber-and-epoxy build. Kentucky-based Stephen Miles Design painted the boat and Kutting Edge Interiors of Missouri handled what Outerlimits general manager Dan Kleitz described as a “one-of-a-kind” interior.
Dual Garmin GPS units, LED lighting and an JL audio sound systems among the cockpit niceties. Twin Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines power the V-bottom.
Sitting pretty during its first sea trial in Rhode Island, Crypto II is certain to be an attention-getter.
“Of course, Crypto II is one of the fastest pleasure V-bottoms in the world,” said Kleitz, then chuckled. “After all, it is an Outerlimits.”
But like its canopied namesake, the 50-foot V-bottom surely will turn the most heads while it’s sitting still.
The 50-footer has potent dual-calibration power under the hatch.
“While the SL50 is a gorgeous hull design, I don’t think there is a sexier sculpture on the planet than a canopied SV 43,” Miles explained. “That said, designing a new scheme for Crypto II and trying to improve up on the the first one was a very tall order. Mitch came to me with the idea of adding some ‘electricity’ that was the catalyst that pulled it all together. From day-one, he had some really cool ideas, plus he was so receptive to my ideas. He was very easy client to work with..
“And then you take what Ryan Schwarzen at Kutting Edge did with the interior and just makes the whole thing a very pleasing composition,” he added.
