Offshore Powerboat Association Modifies 2024 Schedule
With last week’s cancelation of the Roar Offshore Fort Myers Beach event originally set for October 11-13 in Southwest Florida, the Offshore Powerboat Association lost an event on its 2024 racing schedule. Ed Smith the president of the the New Jersey-based organization, and his team have taken a two-prong approach fill the void, staring with moving its Miami Grand Prix event to those October dates.

The organization also has added a new event, Roar On The River in Highlands, N.J., set for May 17-19.
“This event has promise,” wrote Nick Smith, the senior vice-president of the Offshore Powerboat Association, in past on the OPA Facebook page. It’s a great little town in New Jersey— somewhere we’ve never been before—with a really enthusiastic board of directors.”
“We are aware the date coincides with Thunder on Cocoa Beach, and plan to change that going forward,” he added. ‘But the attendance in both locations are different classes generally.”
