New Renegade Powerboats 42’ Open Makes Debut At Overland Park Boat Show
Starting today through Sunday, February 16, attendees and exhibitors of the Overland Park Boat Show in Overland Park, Kan., are going to be among the first people to lay eyes on the all-new 42’ Open luxury performance center console from Renegade Powerboats in Hialeah, Fla. Thanks to Renegade dealer Randy Kent of RK Motorsports in Kaiser, Mo., the first 42-footer—an all-blue beauty powered by four Mercury Racing 500R engines—is making its debut at the show, which is organized by the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers Association.

Along with the 42’ Open, RK Motorsports has two other new Renegades, a 33’ Open with twin Mercury Racing 400R engines and a 38’ Open with triple Mercury Racing 400Rs, on display at the convention center.
“We have a beautiful spot here at the show, strengthened by the now three-deep lineup of models from Renegade Powerboats,” Kent said. “It’s the same spot we’ve always had, which I like because we have room for people to walk back and get a good luck at the boats. We’re super excited to have the new 42’ Open at the show and can’t wait to hear what people think.”
Along with the four Mercury Racing 500R engines hanging off the transom, the new 42-foot Renegade stands out thanks to its meticulous graphics and plush interior as well as its inviting cockpit and entertainment space, all of which are protected by the high-tech, purpose-built hardtop and an automated extending shade system.
Kent added that Renegade owner Manny Oses was originally going to keep the first 42-footer as a personal boat, but after selling hull No. 2, which was supposed to be his demo boat, as well as the third and fourth boats to buyers out of Arizona and Maryland, Kent recently bought the first 42’ Open, which he said is 99 percent complete and has yet to hit the water.
“Right after the show it’s going back to Florida,” said Kent, who added that the quad-engine 42’ Open comes fully loaded with a price tag less than $900,000, depending on paint. “A couple of interior panels and mats were not finished before the boat left for the show so those will get installed. The boat has some really neat features. Our windshield is actual glass—it’s not plastic—and we’re making these return side glass pieces with little kick-outs on them, but they’re not on there yet. So there are a few little things to complete and then Manny will test it and all that jazz, and then it’ll come back to Lake of the Ozarks for our in-water show in April.”

With an 11-foot, 6-inch beam and quad 400-hp outboard engines providing the power, the new 42’ Open is expected to be a wave-crusher. Based on the images Kent sent from the show, the JL Audio system probably crushes it in the sound-waves department.
