Michigan Maritime Museum to Host Livestream of Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial

The Michigan Maritime Museum will host a livestream of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society’s annual Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Ceremony. The ceremony, held in-person at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Whitefish Point, Michigan, is closed to the public to preserve an intimate setting for the families of those lost in the shipwreck in 1975. The livestream allows others to still participate in the event either from the Michigan Maritime Museum or home.

“This combination of preserving the event’s personal nature while expanding access is a thoughtful way to honor the memory of those lost and to include those who wish to pay their respects from afar,” says Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society’s Corey Adkins. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum has upgraded their technology this year to accommodate the increasing number of people connecting to the livestream. Doors will open for the livestream event at the Maritime Museum at 6:30pm on Sunday, November 10th with the ceremony at 7pm. The livestream is free and open to the public, and participants are also welcome to view the ceremony from home.
