Memorial Weekend Boating and Fishing Report

Memorial Weekend Boating and Fishing Report

Boating and fishing have been exceptionally good during the month of May. Winds have subsided since the early months allowing more and more boaters and anglers to enjoy our estuaries both inshore and offshore.

Inshore has produced large Seatrouts, Redfish, Snook and of course, summertime catfish. The Spanish Mackerel seem to have moved on or farther out to sea (gulf). Pictured here with nice Seatrouts are Vicki, Moby and my neighbors, Mark, Andrea and their young angler, Elias. They live and work in New Jersey and New York respectively, but have a home just across the street from us and are regular visitors to Florida. Elias is one of my newest and better junior anglers, as evidenced by his picture. He caught a lot of big trout and other species. He had the honor of the largest Seatrout of the day. I always look forward to spending time with them.

Nathan Cordier and his wife Shawna from Ashville, N.C. are annual visitors to SW Florida and other fishing destinations. Nathan, an experienced angler, caught more than his share of Redfish during their time here in May. Shawna came close to matching him in numbers. Together they caught 14 Reds in one day of back water fishing. Overall, I spent a total of 4 days with Nathan’s, wife, dad and friends here in Florida. Together, they all added Redfish, Snook and big Seatrouts to the catch. Nathan and Shawna are pictured together with one of their many catches. Also, Nathan’s friend David from Tallahassee, landed a 125lb. Tarpon for his ‘fish of a lifetime’. It is pictured here with me removing the hook during. Great job to all!  I enjoyed the time spent with Nathan, his father Robert, wife Shawna and their two friends both named David from Tallahassee, Florida and San Diego, California.

Fishing should be great throughout the month of June, so get out there and have some fun, but be safe!

Vicki, Moby and I will be headed to Marathon in the Florida Keys (Key’s) for the most of June. We look forward to clients that may consider coming down there for a charter as well, subject only to wind and prior charter commitments. We will be targeting Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Sailfish offshore; Grouper and Snapper on the reefs.

This is Captain Terry Fisher of Fish Face Charters LLC. Check out my website at www.fishfacecharters.com. Call me direct at 239-357-6829 or email me at [email protected] to book a charter here or in the ‘Keys’. I am available at any of the two locations as ‘Captain for Hire’ (by the hour) for instructional and fishing.
