But if an evening at home with family and friends is more your speed, “In The Lead With Florida Powerboat Club Head Stu Jones”—the final episode of the 2023 Speed On The Water/Scrapyard Media video series—will air December 31 on the Speed On The Water YouTube channel and send you into 2024 with a smile on your face.

Shooting for the final episode of the third-year series, which tells the stories of some of the high-performance marine industry’s most influential figures, wrapped up this month in Florida at the poker-run-producing club’s Pompano Beach headquarters.

Jones didn’t invent the poker-run format in the high-performance powerboating world, where cards are distributed to participants at every stop and hands are played at a celebration that evening. But with his wife, Jackie, working alongside him, he made a successful business out of it.

His efforts didn’t just result in countless memories and lasting friendships for thousands of powerboat enthusiasts. For more than 30 years, Florida Powerboat Club poker runs have been an effective marketing tool for the high-performance marine industry because—go figure—you need a boat to participate in the club’s events.

In short, Jones’ events have helped sell boats.

The 18-minute episode will air mid-day, but that doesn’t mean you have to watch it right away. You can save it for the evening and enjoy it with your go-fast boating friends in the comfort of your own home. Heck, you can even plan a watch-party around it.
