GAPP Announces 2023-2024 Partnership Program Funding Recipients
A nonprofit advocate for the groundfish industry has announced domestic and overseas partnership awards for fiscal year 2024 to build demand for retail sales of wild Alaska pollock.
The winners were announced during the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP)’s fifth-ever Wild Alaska Pollock Meeting in Seattle on Sept. 28.
They include the domestic firms Trident Seafoods with the Oak View Group, Trans-Ocean Products, Gorton’s Seafood, King and Prince Seafood, High Liner Foods, Arby’s, and H-E-B, plus Angulas Agiunagain in Spain, Nissui Corp. and Trident Japan in Japan and Antillana in Colombia.
“The Partnership Program is one of the most important ways GAPP builds demand and awareness of Wild Alaska Pollock and there’s no better place to make this important announcement than at the industry’s largest gathering and flagship event,” GAPP Board Chair Bob Desautel said.
Trident and Oak View Group are looking to build on their successful introduction of wild Alaska pollock at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle by expanding sales in other Oak View Group entertainment venues. Trans-Ocean is continuing its series of digital campaigns promoting its Crab Classic line of retail products.
Gorton’s is fresh off its launch of Air Fried Fillets and hoping to repeat that success by promoting an existing produce and one new product at Sam’s Clubs in the fall of 2024, while King and Prince plans to promote its Craft Beer-Battered Wild Alaska Pollock Fillets in casual dining and tavern segments. High Liner Foods plans to promote several wild Alaska pollock products for college food services.
Internationally, Agulas Aguinaga is starting its third partnership program, building on the quality of its Krissia brand surimi seafood made from wild Alaska pollock.
Nissui is promoting its Spicy Wild Alaska Pollock roe products in Japan’s Costco stores, while Trident Japan plans to do the same for its Kanikama surimi-based seafood products at Costco. Antilana, a seafood processor and distributor in Columbia, is promoting its line of surimi and fillet based wild Alaska pollock products in Colombian retail and foodservice channels.
