Fountain Introduces 43 SCX Center Console
Combining the hull of its 43 NX center console and a fresh deck, Fountain Powerboats has created a new model dubbed the 43 SCX. The quad Mercury Racing 500R outboard engine-powered 43-footer was unveiled this morning at the Miami International Boat Show, which opened today.

“We have introduced one new model in each of the past four years,” said Fred Ross, the owner of Fountain parent-company Iconic Marine Group, during a brief introduction of the boat for the media. “The 43 SCX is our latest.”
With the 2,000 hp worth of outboards on its transom, the 19,500-pound, 12-foot-wide center console runs in the high-80-mph range according to Jeff Harris, the chief operating officer of Fountain Powerboats in Washington, N.C. The boat can be equipped with up to five 500-hp outboards, according to the company, and fuel capacity is approximately 475 gallons.
Demand for additional bolster seating, Harris explained, drove the development of the 43 SCX.

“The go-fast pleasure-boat crowd required two rows of bolster seats behind the windshield and we really couldn’t offer that when the 43 NX was designed, so we created a new deck,” Harris said. “While were doing that, we went after the 38 SCX hardtop style, console styling, speaker placement and other details.
“The 43 NX was already amazing,” he added. “We didn’t have to do anything with that.”
Fountain fans will get their first look at the 43 SCX during the Florida Powerboat Club Miami Boat Show Poker Run, February 22-25.
Said Ross, “We have introduced one new model in each of the past four years.”
