First RP Elite Series Skater 368 Delivered In Time For July 4 Holiday

If you happen to be boating on Lake Powell today—as fine a way as any to enjoy the July 4 holiday—you may spy an unfamiliar catamaran blasting across the water. The first RP Elite Series Skater Powerboats 368 catamaran powered by twin 1,100-hp Mercury Racing engines, the wild boat is the property of Utah-based Jim Mellor, an experienced high-performance catamaran owner who frequents the spectacular Colorado River-fed waterway.

Yes, it’s a big lake, some 245 square miles of it. But you never know.

Owner Jim Mellor took delivery of the first RP Elite Series Skater 368 catamaran earlier this week.

Mellor took delivery of the catamaran just three days ago. According to Ross Ramsey, the owner of Springtown, Texas-based RP Elite Motors & Marine—Skater’s sole United States dealer—the new owner plans to run the cat through the week on the lake, which has waters in both Arizona and Utah.

Ramsey visited the company’s headquarters in Douglas, Mich., to make sure everything was right for the 36-footer before delivery. It was not his first visit to see the boat—he showed up regularly at the facility to check out the build during its various stages. But it was the first time he’d seen it complete and ready to go out the door.

The 36-footer is ready for its Lake Powell debut.

“Seeing how it all tied together was amazing,” said Ramsey, who was accompanied by RP Elite Motors & Marine salesman Matt Edmondson. “It has such a modern feel. It was supposed to be very modern and very edgy.

“I could not have been more impressed,” he added. “And Jim told me he couldn’t be happier with it.”

The 36-footer will be on display at Super Cat Fest, August 22-24, at the Camden on the Lake Resort in Lake Ozark, Mo. It will be docked alongside Ramsey’s own Skater 388 Pure Platinum Series catamaran.

“The plan is for the first RP Elite Series Skater also to be at Skaterfest in October,” Ramsey said. “But is 100-percent certain to be at Super Cat Fest next month.”

Performance-boating fans at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri late next month will get a chance to ogle the newest Skater 368 build at Super Cat Fest.
