DeSantis And McCauley To Campaign Doug Wright Pleasure Cat
Buddies for years, Christian McCauley and Danny DeSantis have more in common than their longtime friendship. Both are plain-spoken, unpretentious gentlemen from the Northeast who support the annual Dream Ride benefitting the Special Olympics in their region. Both have second homes in South Florida. McCauley is a current offshore racer who will drive the Team Farnsworth Super Cat-class MTI this season. DeSantis is a retired offshore racer who successfully competed in several catamaran classes for years.

And now they co-own a new eight-seat 38-foot Doug Wright Powerboats catamaran powered by Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines. As previously reported on speedonthewater.com, Grant’s Signature Racing of Bradenton, Fla., handled the rigging for the cat.
“I have known Chris forever,” DeSantis said, then chuckled. “Though we had not really put it out there, we are partners in the new Doug Wright—Chris co-owns it with me.”
DeSantis said that he and McCauley plan to run the 38-footer together at the Lake Winnipesaukee Poker Run in New Hampshire this summer. McCauley will run it in the subsequent Lake Champlain Poker Run in Vermont, while DeSantis will run his Skater 426 catamaran in the event.
“We might even run it together in the (Florida Powerboat Club) Tampa Bay Poker Run in April,” McCauley said. “Danny and I have been friends for a quite a while and he is a great guy. We were together when he ordered the Doug Wright a couple of years ago. I’m looking forward to enjoying it with him.”
