DCB Performance Marine M42R Cats No. 2 and 3 In Progress, No. 1 In Demo Mode

While Tony Chiaramonte of DCB Performance Marine was flying across the country yesterday for next week’s Miami International Boat Show, the crew back at the company’s Phoenix headquarters was pulling M42R catamaran No. 3 from the molds. Installation and rigging of the twin Mercury Racing 500R outboard engines on hull No. 2 is almost complete.

“The second one should be on the water next week,” said Johnny Bauer, the company’s vice-president of manufacturing. “Tony will deliver it at the end of this month.”
As for the first DCB M42R catamaran owned by Kris and Shelby Hansen, who also owned the first M37R, it’s in South Florida with Chiaramonte. The DCB vice president will pilot the cat during by-appointment demo rides February 12-14 at Grove Harbour Marina in Coconut Grove.
And back in Phoenix, tooling work continues for the new M45 Widebody cat.
All of this and more is happening concurrently with DCB’s ongoing move into its new facility. The new paint booth should arrive in a few days. In advance of their arrival, said Bauer, some 100 tons worth of air-conditioning units are being installed at the facility.
“Other than that, there’s not much going on,” he added, then laughed.
