DCB M42R Catamaran Update: First Hull and Deck Taking Form

With 13 beauties showcased at the Camden On The Lake Resort docks, a couple of new M37R catamaran deliveries and several boats participating in two days of top-speed competition, DCB Performance Marine’s Tony Chiaramonte and Jeff Johnston were busy men during Super Cat Fest and the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout last month. But thanks to Johnny Bauer and the talented team back at the company’s Phoenix home-base, lamination of the first M42R catamaran continued at steady pace.

DCB Performance marine managing partners Craig and Kim Hargreaves and their son, Jake, joined the lamination crew for a big thumb’s up in front of the first M42R catamaran hull in progress. Photos courtesy Johnny Bauer.

“The hull had its final infusion,” said Bauer, the company’s vice-president of production. “Next, team installs the bulkheads. The deck has its outer skin and graphics completed. It is currently getting prepped for core and inner skin.

“All seat shells and other small parts are completed,” he continued. “Interior patterns are in design. All parts will be heading to post-lamination and the gelcoat department at the end of this month.”

A work in progress.

The company has two major events, the September 19-22 Lake Powell Challenge and its annual owners regatta October 3-5 on Lake Havasu, on the horizon.

“The entire team is eagerly awaiting the day the two parts are out of their respective molds for us all to see,” said Bauer. “Customers passing through Phoenix on their way to our DCB Regatta in Lake Havasu will have yet another reason to swing by the factory.”
