Imagine having a brand-new DCB Performance Boats M37R catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines finished and just waiting for you to hop into the plush driver’s seat, hit the throttles and go. The only things separating you from your immaculate 37-footer are approximately 2,800 miles of road between Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and your home in Brockville, Ontario, Canada and, of course, the United States-Canada border.

Canadians Brian and Janet Lundy haven’t seen their smoldering DCB M37R catamaran in person yet, but they will during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout next month.

Such is the situation for Canadians Brian and Janet Lundy, a couple of repeat DCB buyers who ordered the outboard-equipped full-tunnel cat. With their last DCB creation, an M35 Widebody catamaran with Mercury Racing 1100 engines, the Lundy’s actually drove their truck from Brockville to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., to take delivery of the boat, ran it on the lake for a couple of days and then hauled it all the way home.

But what if you wanted to knock 2,200-plus miles off your roundtrip drive? You could just have DCB’s Tony Chiaramonte meet you with your boat at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and concurrently running Super Cat Fest, where year in and year out he and DCB teammate Jeff Johnston maintain a significant presence to support their customers and the brand itself.

And that is the plan for the Lundys, who will see their M37R in person for the first time at the Central Missouri waterway.

Chiaramonte put the cat—hull No. 14 from the Southern California-based builder—through its first test session on Lake Havasu earlier this week. Jeff Murray of Outlaw Transport will haul the boat to Missouri during Shootout week.

“It’s totally ready for them,” said Chiaramonte. “I ran it and put it through all the drills we put our M37Rs through and it was perfect.

“It’s kind of disgusting here in Havasu, weather-wise,” he added, then laughed. “It’s been super-hot and humid, but I had four people with me in the boat and it ran 124 mph with no problem. I think the Lundy’s will love it.”

From Southern California to Canada with a stop in Central Missouri, the 37-footer will eventually reach its new home.
