Barrett And Latham Shine In Water Street Confidential Episode No. 3
Before their late-January arrival in Fond du Lac, Wis., for Mercury Racing’s “Water Street Confidential” video series, Adrian Barrett and Amanda Latham had never met. They live and work a little more than 2,400 miles from one another—Barrett in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., the home of Barrett Custom Marine, and Latham in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she owns and operates Man O’ War Marine. Each has a distinctly different marketplace and clientele.
A pair of marine industry powerhouses, Adrian Barrett and Amanda Latham talk shop in the latest episode of Mercury Racing’s Water Street Confidential video series.
Barrett is soft-spoken and low key. Latham is outspoken and electric. Barrett has been in business for 12 years. Latham launched Man O’ War Marine three years ago.
And yet they have everything in common. To say they represent the future of the high-performance marine industry would do a disservice to the fine work both are doing right now. But to say the future of the industry is in excellent hands with this dynamic duo is not a stretch. Both exude cool self-confidence.
Within a few minutes of their first meeting, Barrett and Latham seemed as if they’d known each other for years.
Still, I was concerned that having them meet for the first time in a refrigerator-locker-of-a-studio in front of multiple cameras and our crew on a frosty morning in Fond du Lac could make for one stiff and awkward video. Of the eight pairings selected for the video series celebrating Mercury Racing’s 50th anniversary, they were the only duo that had not met.
So the night before, we all got together for drinks and dinner.
I needn’t have worried. Barrett and his wife, Taylor, and Latham connected instantly and comfortably. Their chemistry was immediate and it carried into the following morning’s shoot.
For Amanda Latham (left) and Adrian and Taylor Barrett, breaking the ice was no problem.
Watch the latest episode of Water Street Confidential and see for yourself. I think you’ll agree.
