Taylor Scism Promoted To MTI Vice-President
Since joining MTI in 2018, Taylor Scism has been on a clear upward trajectory, and not simply because the 27 year old is the daughter of company founder Randy Scism and his wife, Cherell. Scism came to the company with a business degree, with a specialty in manufacturing, from Ole Miss University and thrived in her position as client relations manager.

And in her spare time for the past few years, she spearheaded offshore powerboat racing’s thriving 450R Factory Stock class. Last year, Scism and her TS Motorsports team throttleman John Tomlinson earned an American Power Boat Association national championship in the class. In 2022, they earned APBA world and national titles in the category.
Now Scism can add vice-president to her heady resume. Employees of the Wentzville, Mo., company were officially informed today that Scism has moved into the position. As such, she will assume a more active management role within the high-performance catamaran and center console builder’s daily manufacturing operations.

“I love the organization, planning, and logistics of the events which I won’t be fully leaving behind but be less in the details,” said Scism, who is set to marry MTI sales and asset manager Shaun Peters this spring. “I’ve brought on someone new to help with the marketing and I’ve got two outsourced people and groups to help with the events and apparel. It definitely will be a transition, not something that happens overnight.”
Said her clearly delighted and proud father, “It’s all part of the plan to keep MTI the way we want it.”

In a recent speedonthewater.com interview, Scism reflected on the now-25-year-old company she will helped lead into the future. MTI is a business, but it also is an integral part of her personal history.
“MTI has been officially around for the majority of my life and it has been amazing to watch the growth over the years,” she said. “I grew up in this building. I used to be brought to work on my days off from elementary school and watch VHF tapes in my mom’s office. I’ve been here for five years now full-time, and even in the last five years we have grown a lot as a manufacturing facility, as a company and as a brand. I am incredibly proud of my parents and what they have grown and accomplished the last 25 years.
“It’s an honor to be part of this company,” she added. “And I’m really looking forward to what the next 25 years and beyond will bring.
