Capt. Terry’s Hot Fishing Report
It’s been a fun and eventful summertime for 1st Mate Vicki and I working areas of the Florida Keys (‘KEYS’) when the winds permitted. A lot of our fellow Marine Industries Association of Southwest Florida and Tampa Bay members also take opportunities to do the same. A recent trip to Marathon produced quite a bit of Mahi-Mahi action for us, even though it was extremely hot during the day. Fortunately, the 10-12 mile per hour easterly winds provided just enough relief with less humidity to where we could enjoy full days of trolling the waters. We have plans to join the Maverick Boat Group together with members of the Florida Insider Fishing Report running on the Sun Channel, the last weekend of September at Hawk’s Cay for comradery with other Pathfinder owners to do some fishing and relaxing.

Back here at home, it is time to go back to work as the Redfish are here in good numbers. The weather and water temperatures should begin working in our favor. High tide phases will be an asset for providing easy access to remote areas for anglers wanting to catch them. My clients and I have had a great time targeting these fish throughout the summer months. Fishing has been good even though it has been hot. All species are on fire. Go out early and come in before the heat gets unbearable. The fish are biting!
