The Angler V17SF is designed to provide big fishing and cruising amenities in a light, easy-to-trailer package with its standard custom trailer. It’s exceptionally quick and fuel-efficient, accelerating to 30 mph in 4.9 seconds and providing an efficient 5.3 miles per gallon at 20 mph. We topped out at a tick over 47 mph, with the riveted V-hull cutting cleanly through high wind chop and rollers. Hard-over turns were no issue for the G3; we were able to use the SeaStar hydraulic steering to move the hull around with ease, even under full power.
We noted that construction and fit-and-finish proved to be top shelf. The painted combination white, blue and silver hullsides give an attractive look to the boat. Beefy knees tie the transom into the stringers below, and access astern to all wiring and plumbing is convenient for added accessory rigging or repairs if needed. Its 0.08-gauge hull is sturdy enough to take the windiest chop. On the transom, there’s space for a kicker motor, and the fuel system has been custom-designed from the factory to add one later.
Up front, an optional bow features an optional Minn Kota Terrova long-shaft trolling motor. Optional bow cushions provide lounging comfort on family days but stow quickly for serious walleye fishing. There’s an enormous rod locker with tip tubes in the center, with dual livewells—a 15-gallon unit aft and a 20-gallon unit forward. Both are aerated on timers. There’s another long locker on the portside gunwale for a safety paddle, light poles and other gear. A tackle storage compartment on the starboard side is behind the driver’s seat.
The dash features traditional gauges, with a Bluetooth stereo head. An optional Humminbird Helix 7 is mounted in excellent view. The bucket seats swivel and slide, and give good comfort. Handy grab rails are in strategic locations. Aft, twin jump seats fold down to expand the casting deck. There are multiple seat pedestals out back and up front for customizing the deck layout—a good reason to add optional pedestal seats.
The Angler V17SF gives big-boat performance in an easily trailerable model.
