XINSURANCE North Scores Veteran Crewmember
With Gene Greber as crew chief and Nick Buis and J.J. Turk in the cockpit, XINSURANCE North team—one of two Pro Class 1 offshore racing outfits the Utah-based specialty insurance broker is backing this season—already has strong talent on its side. Yet the team is still building out its full crew, and Peter Jacobs, formerly of the world champion Class 1 222 Offshore Australia team, is the most recent addition to the XINSURANCE North team family.

Jacobs, who will haul the team’s rig from venue to venue this season and work as a crew, joined team two days ago.
“We had been looking for someone to drive and crew,” said Buis. “I reached out when I heard Peter became available and we got him on Friday. J.J. and I are excited to have him on board and are looking forward to working with him.”
Jacobs is familiar with Greber. The two have known one another since 2011 when they worked together on the Miss GEICO team.
“After talking with Nick and Gene this past week, they offered me the opportunity to work with them and I gladly accepted, “he said. “I will be driving the hauler and helping out in any way Gene. We work well together. I’m looking forward to the next year of racing with this great team and all the fun adventures we’re going to have.”
Jacob, who has worked in the past with Grieber, brings significant experience in his roles to the team.
The head of XINSURANCE, Rick J. Lindsey is backing several offshore racing teams in addition to the two Pro Class 1 campaigns. Joined by his son, Parker, a videographer, he’ll be flying the XINSURANCE A-Star helicopter at various throughout the season to provide aerial footage for livestream coverage and other projects.

“We look forward to a season of pushing boundaries and thrilling the offshore powerboat racing circuit and offshore racing enthusiasts worldwide,” he added.
