XINSURANCE Helicopter To Pull Camera Duty For Class 1 Coverage
Working again with Case Productions and a new livestream broadcast team, Powerboat P1 has ambitious plans for coverage of the races it produces and markets to the Union Internationale Motonautique Class 1 World Championships Series, which begins May 18-21 in Cocoa Beach, Fla. In the skies above the venue during races, fans will spy the XINSURANCE A-Star helicopter circling the course as the Sandy, Utah-based company is an Official Partner of the Powerboat P! and UIM Class 1 offshore racing.
But the aircraft is more than a marketing vehicle. Dubbed the Official Broadcast Helicopter for the series, it will be used extensively this season as platform for livestream broadcasts as well as video coverage for later use in Class 1 television broadcasts on the Bally Sports and NBC Sports networks.

“This is an exciting time for us to provide support to help build, showcase and highlight the excitement of P1 Offshore racing that includes the UIM Class 1 World Championship, the pinnacle of the sport,” said Rick J. Lindsey, the chief executive officer of XINSURANCE in a press release yesterday from Powerboat P1. We are looking forward to again working with the P1 team and coordinators around the country who organize and promote these exhilarating events.”
A 40-plus-year-old specialty business and private insurance outfit, XINSURNANCE is entering the second round of a three-year sponsorship agreement with Powerboat P1. The company also sponsors Alex Pratt, the founder of fellow Powerboat P1 and Race World Offshore backer Race World Offshore, and Miles Jennings in the XINSURNANCE/Good Boy Vodka Class 1 raceboat, a new-to-the-team 42-foot MTI catamaran. And yesterday the organizers of Thunder On Cocoa Beach announced that XINSURANCE had signed on as a sponsor for the season-opening event.
The company’s commitment to supporting the sport extends beyond Class 1. Earlier this year, XINSURANCE also announced it is backing the Turk Family Racing team’s two Bracket class boats. In April, the company announced a long-term title sponsorship of the Great Lakes Grand Prix in Michigan City, Ind., an Offshore Powerboat Association-produced event that is one of five races currently on the Class 1 schedule.

Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1, credited Lindsey for his ongoing backing of the sport in the release. “Rick’s passion for, and understanding of, marine motorsports shines through in everything his company does,” he said. “And the XINSURANCE helicopter certainly makes this a high-flying sponsorship.”
