Waves And Wheels Edition Boats Ready For Desert Storm Poker Run

Although catching up with Justin Wagner and company from Waves and Wheels in Osage Beach, Mo., is a given during a visit to Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks—especially during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in late August as Waves and Wheels is presenting sponsor of the event’s massive Shootout on the Strip, occasionally we get a chance to hang out with Wagner at an event in another state, such as Florida during the Key West Poker Run or Arizona for the Desert Storm Poker Run.

Coming up later this week, the speedonthewater.com team is going to see Wagner and several of his customers with their Waves and Wheels edition boats at the annual poker run in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., which just so happens to be one of Wagner’s favorite events. On Thursday, Waves and Wheels is going to have several boats on display during the popular Desert Storm Street Party, a massive showcase of heavy-hitting hardware that lines McCulloch Boulevard in the heart of Lake Havasu City.

Along with local performance boater Jerry Olsen, who owns the first Doug Wright Powerboats 36 Carbon Waves and Wheels Edition catamaran—a gorgeous blue 36-footer powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R engines—Wagner said the Waves and Wheels display is going to include a fully loaded 366 Waves and Wheels edition PlayCraft Boats tri-toon featuring Bluave Marine Audio equipment from Wagner’s audio solutions company, a recently updated Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats 37 GTX V-bottom that is midway through a complete Waves and Wheels dash and interior conversion and his former personal boat, Raiden, a radical 50-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran that he recently sold to local performance boaters Greg and Lera Miller.

“The Desert Storm Poker Run is such a fun event—we have a blast every time we go out to Lake Havasu,” said Wagner, who can’t wait for the poker run attendees to get a closer look at his team’s latest and greatest projects. “I’m excited about the event overall and seeing all the different boats on display and in the poker run. I’m also looking forward to being in Lake Havasu more consistently, especially with our Waves and Wheels Edition Doug Wright program. I think a lot of people are going to be impressed when they see Jerry’s boat on display.”

Olsen’s 36-footer, which he took delivery of in August 2023, was the first Waves and Wheels Edition catamaran finished by the Florida boatbuilder’s Midwest dealer and Wagner said the owner has been tearing up the Colorado River waterway since taking delivery of the cat last summer.

Wagner said Waves and Wheels currently has three Doug Wright cats in production—a 39-footer that is currently being painted at Waves and Wheels’ sister company, Graphix1 Paint, another 36-footer and the dealer’s second 42-footer. The first 42 Carbon Waves and Wheels edition, which was the subject of a Speedonthewater.com and Scrapyard Media-produced video, was delivered in March to Michigan performance boaters Dave and Susie Burgess.

“It would have been cool to bring Dave’s 42 to Havasu as well, but he’s currently enjoying it at his second home in Southwest Florida,” Wagner said. “The good thing is that boat has the complete documentary video of it being built on YouTube as well as the walkthrough Scrapyard Media put together for us so people can get a closer look at that boat without having to leave their desk or their couch.”

Wagner added that he can’t wait to catch up with friends from throughout the country at the Desert Storm Poker Run. And yes, we’re pretty sure, that includes his friends from Speedonthewater.com.
