Vita and Hodgdon Yachts Partner to Build Vita’s New All-Electric Lion
Superyacht tender builder Hodgdon Yachts, the oldest shipyard in the U.S., has partnered with UK marine technology company Vita to build Vita’s new highest performance, all electric 34’5” flagship boat, the Lion.
Utilizing the latest in electric marine propulsion technology and designed by BorromeodeSilva out of Milan, the Lion is the first and only premium electric powerboat compatible with fast DC charging, allowing it to charge in one hour and reach cruising speeds of 24 knots and a top speed of over 35 knots.
“Our vision was to create a boat with no compromise in terms of user experience, performance and functionality while also ensuring the least impact possible on the marine environment in which it operates,” says Rory Trahair, CEO of Vita Yachts Division. “This collaboration with Hodgdon combines our technical innovation and their centuries of craftsmanship at the highest levels to produce the most advanced electric powerboat built to date.”
The Lion can accommodate up to eight passengers, offers high performance and elegant style, and features plenty of space onboard with a large cockpit that can double as a dining space, a luxurious subpad and bathing area, and an enclosed cabin that includes a day berth, day head, sink and storage.
“At Hodgdon we strive to push the boundaries in terms of materials, technology and design to optimize performance and deliver the quality the industry expects. Our move into electric yachts and tenders further demonstrates our commitment to increasing demands from the market for zero emissions boating,” adds Audrey Hodgdon, Director of Sales & Marketing.
The Lion features an integrated Fusion sound system, and will be available for sea trials in the South of France starting this summer. To learn more, visit vita-power.com.
