Video Flashback! Revisit The First Midwest Challenge

A slice of paradise on Lake Michigan’s western shore, the beach city of Sheboygan, Wis., was an instant hit with offshore racers and fans during the inaugural 2023 Midwest Challenge offshores celebrating the Mercury Racing’s 50th anniversary. That environment, plus the gracious townspeople of Sheboygan itself, made it the regular season event of the year—and left no question that it would be coming back.

And so it has—today’s action starts with Class 1 qualifying at 11:30 a.m. and will be broadcast live throughout the day on the P1 Offshore Facebook page.

Want to get in the mood for the first day of the Midwest Challenge? Maybe kill a little time between the scheduled races? Check out last year’s 20-minute, fast-paced video on the event produced by Speed On The Water and Scrapyard Media.

Though the video focuses primarily on the teams of primary sponsor MTI—the 25-year-old celebrated an anniversary of its own last year—it provides highlights from the inaugural weekend and overview of Sheboygan itself.

It should get you in just the right mood to watch a day of offshore action. Unless, of course, you’re here in Sheboygan.

In that case, grab a towel, some sunscreen and a cooler, and get your butt on the beach. The action will come to you.
