Toys Tour Update: ‘Truckload’ Of Toys For Kids, Feasts And Prizes On Tap For 260 Guests – Speed on the Water
The owner of Velocity Powerboats and the lead organizer of the 2023 Toys Tour this weekend in Palatka, Fla., Scott McCormick had planned on capping the Saturday night dinner at 175 guests. But with 86 boats currently registered for the December 1-2 event, he had to adjust that plan and he now has 260 guests on the roster. And while that does mean going to an indoor/tented-outdoor dining format for the post-event celebration, it almost means more holidays gifts for children in need in Putnam County.

“One of our Friday night food vendors is Outer Banks Boil,” said McCormick. “The owner says he’s bringing a truckload of toys for the kids.”
If an army truly does travel on its stomach, as the saying goes, the Toy Tour armada troops will travel well throughout the weekend, starting with the Friday lunch run at Three Bananas restaurant on the shores of the St. John River. Toy delivery happens Saturday morning and will be followed by a lunch run to Renegade restaurant. When participants return to Palatka for the Saturday night party, they’ll be treated to dinner catered by Woodpecker Barbeque.
“It’s going to be banging,” said McCormick.
Participants even will have a chance to go home with something more than full stomachs and the satisfaction of knowing that thanks to their generosity children who would otherwise go without holiday gifts will have presents to unwrap this year.
“Our sponsors have also made some great donations to give back to the participants—thanks to them we have some very cool stuff this year,” McCormick explained. “We’ve got $4,000 worth of Simrad screens as well as floating Simrad Bluetooth radios. We’ve got Wet Sound audio coolers and five electric scooters from Unagi.
“Mercury Racing has donated a lab-finished propeller to give away,” he added. “They’ve also thrown in a bunch of cool rugs, chairs and party supplies.”
