TNT Marine Center Sold, TNT Marine Still Thriving
Though TNT Marine Center customers officially were informed this week that the Miami facility has been sold to ACME Marinas, clients of TNT Custom Marine can breathe a sigh of relief. The longstanding, legendary South Florida powerboat service, rigging, brokerage and storage business founded by Mike Thomas and John Tomlinson is very much alive.
Though TNT Marine Center has been sold, TNT Custom Marine is still owned and operated by John Tomlinson and Mike Thomas.
“In 2000, TNT bought out Bobby Moore and then bought the Aronow buildings where Bobby’s shop was,” Tomlinson explained. “We sold those in 2004 and bought Spinnaker Marina with our partner Jeff Soffer, and then changed the name of the marina to TNT Marine Center.”
Tomlinson and Thomas recently sold their interest in that business to Soffer.
“Jeff brought in a new company, ACME Marinas, to manage it and they kept all of our marina employees,” Tomlinson said. “So the only thing that’s really changed is that we don’t run the marina anymore.
“We still own and operate TNT Custom Marine at the marina,” he added. “It’s business as usual here.”
In addition to its service, rigging, storage and brokerage operations, TNT Custom Marine is a Mercury Marine and MTI dealer.
