On the road this week bound for engine and interior installation at Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats in Bristol, R.I., a new SV 50 sportboat already is an attention-grabber thanks to its molten red graphics. For Stephen Miles of Kentucky-based Stephen Miles Design, such a fiery paintjob is the perfect match for the muscular 50-footer.
On its way to Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats for completion, this SV 50 sportboat was painted for Michigander Rob D’Angelo by Stephen Miles Design.
“It’s so clean, but it still has many subtle details you can see where you’re up close to it,” said Miles. “That tri-coat red was very challenging, but we loved how it turned out. I have to give a lot of credit to Chris Simon, our shop foreman, who’s doing such great work.”
“It’s kind of timeless,” he added. “And think it’s going to photograph very well from helicopters.
A closer look at the color scheme details.
The boat will be equipped with Mercury Racing 1350/1100 engines. Ryan Schwarzen of Rhode Island-based Kutting Edge is handling the interior.
Once the sit-down cockpit 50-footer is finished it will go to owner Rob D’Angelo of Michigan. D’Angelo and his wife, Laura, also own an Outerlimits SL 44 V-bottom and a Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console—both of which were painted by Miles.
The Stephen Miles Design paint booth won’t be empty long. The crew there has a long list high-performance boats to paint including a Nor-Tech 400 SS center console and 34-foot Fountain center console, two SL 50 sportboats and pair of Outerlimits SC 37 catamarans.
