Third Annual Binks Addiction Awareness Fun Run Opens Registration

Set for June 6-8 on North Carolina’s Lake Norman, the Binks Addiction Awareness Fun Run opened registration today. All proceeds from the event will once again benefit Restoration Road Ministry, Inc., which focuses on “addiction prevention and recovery, harm reduction, families and children affected by addiction.”

The third-year event will include a Friday evening welcome celebration and fundraiser at Midtown Sundries restaurant in Denver, N.C. Saturday’s fun run will conclude with a catered lunch on the shores of the popular waterway. A raft-up will follow.
In 2024, the Binks run attracted 40-plus boats to the main event and 32 boats to the subsequent raft-up. The event raised more than $23,000 for its benefitting charity.
Founder Kurt Binkley started the run to his honor his son, Travis—nicknamed Binks for his last name—who was 23 years old when a fentanyl overdose took his life.
“It’s freaking awesome,” he said, following last year’s event. “It’s bringing me to tears. I never expected this kind of turnout. We are very blessed.”
