Team Montlick’s State-of-the-Art Raceboat Stands Out In Marathon Season-Opener

Backed by its new sponsor for the 2024 offshore racing season, Atlanta-headquartered Montlick Injury Attorneys, the 450R Factory Stock-class team of teenage driver Logan Adan and veteran throttleman Ricky Maldonado proved it is going to be a force to be reckoned with following the season-opening race in Marathon, Fla., last weekend.

According to a press release from the enthusiastic sponsor, which claims to be the first law firm sponsor to be involved in offshore powerboat racing, the team’s new 38-foot Doug Wright Powerboats catamaran, Team Montlick, earned a commanding victory at the Race World Offshore-produced event, besting the second-place GC Racing team by 59 seconds and the third-place MF Racing team by 1 minutes, 8 seconds.

“This victory is not just about crossing the finish line first; it’s about setting the standard for excellence in every one of our endeavors,” said David Montlick, the founder and CEO of Montlick Injury Attorneys, which has assembled a strong team showcasing its commitment to winning in the courtroom and on the water. “For us, winning is not just an aspiration, it’s an obsession.”

The fusion of the Montlick and Doug Wright teams is proving to be a powerful partnership, David Montlick added.

At just 19 years old, Adan has already demonstrated remarkable talent as a rookie, securing multiple podium finishes in his 2023 debut season. Maldonado, a stalwart offshore racer, brings to the table more than 30 years of racing experience across different classes.

“This is one of the fastest boats I’ve driven, I know we are going to win,” said Maldonado, who entered last weekend’s race confidently as he and the team worked closely to build the canopied 38-foot raceboat. “This new partnership elevates our standards and takes us to the next level.”

The firm’s decision to venture into the adrenaline-fueled world of offshore racing reflects Montlick’s competitive spirit and its determination to conquer new frontiers. Nikki Montlick, a driving force behind the partnership, emphasized their shared drive to push boundaries and achieve greatness.

“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do,” Nikki Montlick said. “Partnering with Doug Wright Powerboats allows us to harness that spirit and channel it into a new venture.”
