Team M CON’s Tyler Miller Named Sportsman Of The Year
Tyler and Lindsey Miller’s plans last weekend included cheering on their son, Barrett, in his basketball game and watching the Kansas City Chiefs advance to their consecutive Super Bowl. What they did not include was a trip to Reno, Nev., for the annual American Power Boat Association’s annual meeting and awards dinner.

That was until APBA president Chris Fairchild called Thursday night to ask where they were. And they were exactly where they had planned to be, meaning at home in Wathena, Kan., and looking forward to a mellow family weekend that had absolutely nothing to do with offshore racing.
Fairchild told them they would be receiving an award during the Friday night APBA banquet. So the couple booked a 5 a.m. flight to Reno. That night, Fairchild presented Miller with the APBA Sportsmanship Award.
Tyler Miller has secured his lofty place in offshore powerboat racing history.
In no small way, the honor meant more than all of the team’s Super Cat, Class 1 and Pro Class 1 accomplishments.
“We are still in shock to receive an award that captures the motto and structure and attitude of the M CON/Monster Energy teams were built on—sportsmanship,” said Miller. “The award outweighs all the trophies and checkered flags, and we were honored to accept it on behalf of our amazing team.”
Lindsey and Tyler Miller made what they described as one-night “stealth run” to the APBA meetings in Reno last weekend.
The Millers returned to Kansas Saturday in time to get ready for their Sunday plans, which included watching their beloved Chiefs earn their way into their third consecutive Super Bowl.
Icing on the cake.
