Team Farnsworth And Hancock Claims Consultants To Campaign Super Cat – Speed on the Water

Team Farnsworth Motorsports and primary sponsor Hancock Claim Consultants are adding yet another offshore raceboat to their stable. South Florida-based team owner Win Farnsworth has acquired the Broadco MTI catamaran formerly owned by Chuck and Kellie Broaddus. The 40-footer, which will run its first full season as a Super Cat next year, earned a Superboat-class world title under the Super Boat International umbrella in 2014 with Chuck Broaddus driving and Grant Bruggemann, currently of the Super Cat-class Valder Yachts/Pro Floors Racing team, handling the throttles.

The catamaran is powered by Scorpion Racing engines built by Frank McComas. It is currently en route to Unique Custom Marine in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for storage and additional evaluation.

“Chuck and Kellie were extraordinarily helpful in what was a complex transaction,” said Farnsworth. “They were great to work with. I think the engines were recently refreshed, but Frank will be down here next week to check them out.”

A cockpit crew for the Team Farnsworth/Hancock Claims Consultants Super Cat-class team has not been selected as the outfit currently has Extreme V- and Bracket 500-class teams headed to next week’s Race World Offshore Key West World Championships. Farnsworth said he didn’t want to distract or in any way disturb the outstanding chemistry of the existing group of teammates.

However, Farnsworth said he is hoping to have the Super Cat in Key West next week for testing and perhaps a few laps in Wednesday’s race. The decision at present is not final.

“That would be the ultimate situation for us,” he explained. “If we could get in a few laps, that would at least give us a baseline for next season.

“The Super Cat-class is 12 boats thick and it’s unbelievably competitive,” he added. “Being the new guys, it’s always hard to learn. Our plan is to build our Super Cat team from the technical perspective on up.”
