Super Stock Class Releases 2023 Competition Schedule

With 15 teams committed to running at least some portion of the seven-race 2023 Super Stock-class owners group internal schedule, fans of the outboard-engine-powered spec catamaran category will not want for offshore racing action this season. The group released its schedule this afternoon via social media, and it includes the following dates and events, five of which comprise the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series:

The Super Stock-class team owners have seven events on their 2023 regular season schedule, which will be followed by Race World Offshore-produced Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla. “Some teams may also choose to run other events such as the LOTO Powerfest (formerly the Lake Race), the new OPA race in Pompano Beach (Fla.), the St. Clair (Mich.) River Classic and the OPA Englewood Beach Waterfest World Championships,” said Ryan Beckley, the Super Stock-class representative and throttleman for the CELSIUS team owned by driver Chris Hopgood.

Unlike the Super Cat-class, the Super Stock teams are running two races—the Michigan City and Sheboygan events—that are not in the APBA series and, as such, not eligible for competitors to accrue points toward the 2023 APBA High Points Championship. But like the Super Cat class, the Super Stock class is committed to competing in the Union Internationale Motonautique Offshore World Championships, November 5-12, in Key West, Florida.

In 2023, the Super Stock class averaged 11 boats per race.

The Super Stock class is particularly robust this year.

“Hopefully, all 15 teams show up,” Beckley said, then laughed. “There also are a couple of boats outside the 15 that are just sitting there, and another two that are for sale.”
