In the News: Summer Blast To Round Out West Michigan Offshore Event Schedule

Though West Michigan Offshore’s signature summer events—Muskegon Powerboat Week and Rock The Coast—for 2022 are in the books, the club has one more event on tap. Dubbed the Gold Coast Summer Blast, the season-ending happening is set for August 12-13.

The least-structured event on the West Michigan Offshore roster, the Gold Coast Summer blast centers around a Friday lunch run to Boatwerks in Holland, Mich. While participants can simply arrive at the waterfront eatery by either boat or car, there is a fun run slated to depart out of Grand Haven at noon.
Also set up with lunch as its centerpiece, Saturday’s meeting place is The Deck in Muskegon, Mich. A fun-run fleet also is scheduled to depart Grand Haven at noon bound for the The Deck.
Though there is no charge for the Gold Coast Summer Blast, West Michigan Offshore members should register so the management and staff at each lunch sport will know what size of crowd to expect.
Participants and their guests will handle their own lunch bills. A post-lunch raft-up is planned for the Saturday run.
Taking his cue from and riffing on virtual gatherings popular during pandemic, Roger Zuidema, the president of West Michigan, has dubbed the Friday and Saturday lunches “secret Zoom meetings” in which participants zoom—preferably by water—to their destinations.
“Everyone needs an excuse to head to the lake for an important meeting with WMO friend,” he wrote in an email West Michigan Offshore members. “Here you go.”
