Striper Migration Map – June 17, 2022
The June full moon brought some great catches, especially for boat fishermen from eastern Long Island to Rhode Island. Large schools of bunker are moving bass around in Massachusetts, while summer conditions and resident fish are taking over in southern New Jersey.
New Jersey Striper Fishing Report
Big bass continue to feed off Monmouth County, but larger fish appear to have vacated the surf and Raritan Bay, leaving schoolies and slot-sized bass.
Long Island/New York Striper Fishing Report
Extra-large stripers are moving along the South Shore of Long Island, where boat fishermen are catching on bunker spoons and live baits. Montauk is holding big bass, and in Long Island Sound, trophy stripers are spreading out along the North Shore.
Connecticut/Rhode Island Striper Fishing Report
Forty-pounders continue to move through Long Island Sound, and there’s no sign of the action slowing down.
Captains in Rhode Island are reporting striper fishing “as good as it gets” with fish to 40-plus pounds being caught both in Narragansett Bay and the ocean.
Cape Cod/Massachusetts Striper Fishing Report
Bunker schools are attracting large stripers on all sides of Cape Cod, and have even been pushed into the Canal, where stripers blitzed this week.
North of the Cape toward Boston, the bunker schools have been attracting large stripers as well, but seiners have been knocking down the numbers of this baitfish locally, and fishermen are none too happy about it. Bass over 40 inches were reported this week, and the fishing was consistent around the bunker schools.
New Hampshire/Maine Striper Report
New Hampshire and Maine are seeing good fishing with bass to 40 inches and above.
